Found in a meteor crater

In 1893, the chemist Henri Moissan was studying fragments of the Canyon Diablo meteorite from Arizona, the impact site now known as Meteor Crater. Among them he found tiny crystals so bright he first took them for diamonds. They were something new: silicon carbide. The mineral was later named moissanite in his honor.

Natural moissanite is so rare that almost none has ever been found. Every moissanite in jewelry today, including ours, is lab-grown. It is the same crystal Moissan found, made here on Earth.

Why we're called Crater

We named the brand after the place moissanite was first discovered. Our star-shaped mark is a cut stone and an impact at the same time.

What we stand for

• Real metal. 925 sterling silver. Gold pieces are 18K gold-plated sterling silver.
• Stones you can test. Our moissanite passes standard thermal diamond testers. We sell the tester too, so you can check for yourself.
• Proof on paper. Every stone comes with a GRA report and a unique serial number.
• Straight answers. Moissanite is not a diamond, and we will never call it one. It is its own gemstone, and a beautiful one.
